God's Amazing Passion
Passion is a powerful thing. It can either compel us to draw near, or it can drive us away. It can feed life, or fuel its destruction.
Passion has the power to either guide us or derail us.
God’s passion isn’t like ours. His passion extends the invitation of intimacy, offers the security of belonging, and promises the nearness of His presence. His passion isn’t self serving and doesn’t drive others away — or into the ground.
But we are so easily distracted and exhausted by our own passions and pursuits,
we fail to see or experience what is truly important and life-giving.
When this happens to me, my life is more like hacking my way through a hot, tangled jungle
rather than walking with a loving God in the cool of His vineyard.
And while jungle hacking and desert hiking are unavoidable in this life, even in those difficult journeys God continually woos and invites me to a place of refreshment and restoration. In the midst of suffocating chaos, and the squeezing urgency of have-to’s dictating my every move, God invites me into the get-to’s.
In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
But this is only possible when I choose to stop and accept His invitation — to enter into and experience His passion for me.
Is a lighter burden and greater intimacy with Him something you long for?

I LOVE this…yay! Please keep sharing!👍🏼😊❤
Hey Jackie, wonderful start!! Love this statement in your blog…even in those difficult journeys God woos and invites us to a place of refreshment and restoration.
I look forward to reading how the Lord speaks to your heart. In these truly difficult days of chaos it is a great reminder that in him we can find rest.
Thank you for your kind words, "unknown." God wooing and inviting us to a place of refreshment and restoration has been my journey these past few years, and He has been compelling me to not only share what I've been learning, but invite others along in the journey.
Thank you, Kayren! So glad this post resonates and encourages. My heart in what I write is to share refreshment, restoration and encouragement.
Jackie, I so appreciate how you said "jungle hacking and desert hiking are unavoidable in this life" – such truth. Just as our Lord said "In this world, you will have trouble…" Wow! What a validating statement. It helps us see how, just like He who was "a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief," we can experience suffering without even having committed a wrong (let alone all the times we create our own trials.) And then you say "even in those difficult journeys God woos and invites us to a place of refreshment and restoration." And again, it is true. We can scream and yell and say "please take this cup from me," and He is there with open arms: giving us what we need to endure, guiding us through, teaching and growing and refining to where, even out of horrors, He creates beauty.
Thank you for this lovely reminder! I am so excited to read more!
Amen, and well-stated, Christine! Our Lord is ever-present and accessible regardless of the difficulties we may be journeying through. And a wonderful reassurance for my own heart is that in the midst, He offers Himself.
Enjoy your blog, my friend! Keep on working for Jesus!
